it's no use going back to yesterday, because I was a different person then

I jinxed myself.

I didn't want to display publicly that I was seeing one person exclusively because I thought it seemed a little too soon.

However, in today's world you can only ignore a "relationship request" for so long before it gets awkward.

And so I gave in and now, I will probably have to change it back to single after about one week.

Is this a good use of technology? Publicized relationship failures for everyone?

Sigh.

Is this a facebook thing? How strange!

I know exactly what you're talking about. I've gone through several guys I've dated without being "in a relationship". It took Chris and I a long time to declare our relationship on the social networks. I generally don't do it publicly until I know for sure it'll last. But it's a sticky situation when someone requests it.

What the hell is a relationship request??? If you're talking facebook, I think that whole thing is so weird, especially the "it's complicated" option. I mean, really. Are we so far removed from human interaction that we announce our relationship status on the freakin' Internet before even talking to our friends about it? Or our significant other??

I'm not judging you - I'm understanding your feelings about it. It's weird. Really weird. Who knew one could even SEND a relationship request?!?

I read an article online recently about a British woman who found out via Facebook that her husband wanted a divorce. He changed his "status" (or whatever) to: John so-and-so is ending his marriage to Jane so-and-so. She didn't even know there were problems, apparently.

How weird is that?!
